Alabama CB meetings to try a new approach

By Dennis Pillion posted 02-05-2019 08:31

Alabama CB meetings have traditionally been held in the Birmingham area six times per year on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 p.m., with a 30 minute business meeting followed by a one hour CE program. Due to the 2019 Interstate highway construction project in Birmingham, we have opted to try a new approach: making the CB meetings available to AADE members around the state using videoconferencing. The obvious benefit to members is a substantial savings in your valuable time.

The first meeting, to be held tonight, February 5th, will utilize GoToMeeting as a software platform. The April meeting will utilize Zoom videoconferencing. A choice will be made after that whether or not to try a third videoconferencing service or to adopt one of the two tried previously for future meetings.

Our hope is that the new approach will boost attendance at the meetings and increase networking among members, while allowing us to provide our members with the latest and greatest in news, diabetes education information and awareness of what AADE is doing nationally.

Tonight's first conference will showcase the new DANA platform that AADE has provided to members as their one-stop site containing up-to-date information about diabetes technology products, including insulin pumps, CGMs and closed-loop systems, reviews of apps available to you and your patients for use in diabetes management, device training, tech-focused education, research updates and information resources.
