It's hard to believe our 2nd AzAADE Annual Conference was almost a month ago already! The day was a huge success with plenty of time for networking and great continuing education sessions. We had over 100 multidisciplinary participants, including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, students and a handful of other healthcare professionals.
The day started with a discussion on the pathophysiology of the gut/transit time and the effects of and on diabetes, including medications such as insulin. We then were presented with how to effectively communicate with and celebrate patients. This was followed by a presentation on organization for optimal diabetes management, practical tips for every day. The morning then wrapped up with an overview of hyperlipidemia and hypertension in diabetes. The afternoon contained a breakout session which included a choice of diabetes medications: now and future or a diabetes patient panel. These thought provoking sessions were followed by an overview of diabetic foot problems, and, lastly, sexual health in diabetes helped wrap up the CE portion.
Thank you to all of you who made the event possible, including my fellow AzAADE coordinating body members, speakers, and day of volunteers, (we couldn't do it without your support)! For those of you who attended, thank you as well, and I hope you got as much out of the event as I did and for those that didn't, I hope to see you next year!
