Motivation Monday!

Greetings colleagues!

I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to share my motivation for being a Diabetes Educator this Monday morning with you! I was referred a patient about 2 months with newly diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes and an A1C of 9.2%. His provider did not offer the referral, but rather the patient's wife found information on me and requested the referral from his PCP. The patient was started on Metformin and after 2 months of significant lifestyle change has managed to decrease his A1C from 9.2% to 5.9%. He just messaged me this morning! In addition to improvements in A1C, his blood pressure has also improved, he has lost weight and he tells me "I just feel better".

What we do at Diabetes Educators MATTERS! I know we can often feel bogged down with reimbursement, charting and patients who have a difficult time doing the things we suggest. Research continues to tell of our value, however I thought I would give you a real life example! I hope this helps you to find motivation to tackle your week like it did for me! I know you all have motivating stories as well. Please share  so we can continue to inspire each other to be the best educators we can be!

Happy Monday everyone!
