The American Diabetes Association recenlty released Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes--2016. The standards include detailed information on the classification and diagnosis of diabetes, glycemic targets, prevention of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease in diabetes and microvascular complications. In addition, the standards of care overviews diabetes in different populations, including children and adolescents, older adults and during pregnancy. Diabetes care in the hospital and diabetes advocacy are also addressed.
