The California Coordinating Body of the American Association of Diabetes Educators granted the first Kim Higgins California Diabetes Educator Of The Year Award in 2017. This award will be given annually to the California/Nevada Diabetes Educator that best exemplifies the qualities and ideals of Kim Higgins in their commitment to helping people with diabetes. The California Coordinating Body believes that this award will help develop responsible solutions and inspire a new generation of innovation in diabetes education and service.
The award consists of one complimentary registration to the California AADE annual conference, overnight lodging for the conference dates only and a Kim Higgins Scholarship Award recognition plaque.
