I was recently speaking with a group of educators at a conference and mentioned my mom was my first diabetes educator and how much I learned from her just having her as my mom. Since I grew up with a T1D mom, one of the educators noted that I was a T3D: a family member of someone with diabetes.
I am wondering if anyone else has used that term and how the diabetes community at large might feel about that term. I found it an interesting idea and realized that parents of T1D kids and teens are definitely in a unique position as T1D does affect their lives daily in so many ways. Are there specific resources you all share with families of those with diabetes?
What are your thoughts on a Type 3 Diabetes descriptive for our families?
