Activity description: This virtual webinar will provide participants with the latest findings on the key functions of the microbiome and how the microbiome and type 2 diabetes interface. Participants will learn the characteristics of a healthy microbiome and how blood sugar affects the microbiome and how the microbiome in turn affects blood sugars. Participants will learn about the role of nutrition and other lifestyle interventions and how these affect the microbiome. Participants will learn strategies for working with patients in supporting/guiding lifestyle changes to positively impact their microbiome and overall diabetes management. This activity will provide participants with the knowledge and confidence that diabetes educators need to address this topic with patients and co-workers.
Target audience: This activity is designed for individuals or groups of diabetes care and education specialists including RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physician Assistants, MDs, and other health care providers interested in staying up to date on current practices of care for people with diabetes and other related conditions.
Requirements for successful completion: For successful completion, participants are required to attend the full activity, and complete and submit the program evaluation at the conclusion of the educational event. Your Statement of Credit will be issued upon submission of the evaluation form. Pharmacists must provide their date of birth (MMDD) and NABP ePID to receive credit. Pharmacist learners who fail to provide this information will not receive credit for this activity. Please check your NABP profile within 45 days of this activity to make sure your credits were uploaded. Per the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board, nurse practitioners are eligible to claim continuing education contact hours from ANCC
