House Bill 1175 Diabetes Reporting passed out of the House Public Health Committee on 1/11/18. The bill author is Representative Vanessa Summers and Representative Cindy Kirchhofer is the co-author. This bill will now move on to the full House for a vote within the next week then move over to the Senate for consideration on or after January 31st.
If this bill is passed, it would require the state department of health to collaborate with the office of the secretary of family and social services and develop a strategic plan along with workgroups to identify and reduce the prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes in Indiana and submit the strategic plan to the governor and general assembly with updates every two years through 2026.
