Hello, Iowa Educators -

The Iowa Legislature currently has a bill in the Senate (SF530) regarding Emergency Insulin Prescription refills. This is a VITALLY important bill that will allow pharmacists to refill insulin without a prescription, when a doctor cannot be reached or a prescription is expired. You can find the details of the bill here: (https://www.legis.iowa.gov/legislation/BillBook?ga=88&ba=sf530).

What we need from Iowa Educators is for you to express your support for this bill. If you have personal stories or experiences specifically regarding emergency refills, please make them heard. If you don't have a personal story, you can share the store of Kevin Houdeshell from Ohio who was unable to fill his insulin prescription over a holiday and died. Emergency Prescription legislation is often referred to as "Kevin's Law." Kevin's story here: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2015/12/24/death-diabetes-sparks-change-new-law/77899856/
