Your Iowa CB and LNG for AADE would like to start making weekly or monthly blog posts. We are looking for member involvement; if you have an article or blog post you would like to submit for consideration, please email the document to iowaaade@gmail.com. (Preferably in a Word format.)
At this time, we have no guidelines for length or topic. If you think a topic is relevant and important to diabetes educators and/or patients, please share it with us. Along with your article text, please be sure to include the title you would like the post to have, your name and credentials as you would like them to appear under the author and any contact information you want to provide to your readers.
Some topic suggestions would be:
- "In the news" - such as your take on Medicare Competitive Bidding or the United Health Care/Medtronic decision
- Diabetes advocacy issues - such as insurance coverage for diabetes education or Medicare coverage of CGMS technology
- Patient success stories (please make sure all patient information has been de-identified for patient privacy)
- How you use social media as an educator
- Why you choose to be a part of AADE or why you chose your career path as a diabetes educator
- Why diabetes education is important to you
- Your participation in local diabetes events, state events, annual meetings, etc.
- Your experiences with local diabetes organizations (do you volunteer for ADA or JDRF?)
- Your interactions with diabetes in your community (PWD, patients, family, other educators, presentations, classes, etc)
- Dispelling diabetes myths
Anything diabetes-related has the potential to be a great blog post! A blog is a way to put a personal touch and add a voice to stories and information you want to share. We look forward to reading about your experiences and sharing your hard work with all our Iowa members!
