Hello Fellow Kentuckians,

Pre AADE conference excitement is in the air for those attending AADE conference in Houston. This week most attendees have a countdown checklist which include items such as travel arrangements, hotel confirmation, packing list, work arrangements, home arrangements, and conference information.

Speaking of conference information, the AADE19 Conference App is very nifty. This app can be downloaded to your phone or tablet.  It will help you be organized and updated on conference information. The app includes specifics regarding maps, exhibitors, social media, events, AADE daily News, attendees and sessions. It also allows you to mark the sessions and events you are interested in attending, to view handouts for the sessions and take notes regarding the sessions. There are more bonuses to this app that I have not named.

This year’s conference learning tracks include AADE7 IN PRACTICE, THE BUSINESS OF DIABETES, CLINICAL DIABETES MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES, INCLUSIVE DIABETES CARE, POPULATION HEALTH, PSYCHOSOCIAL/BEHAVIORAL,RISKREDUCTION/DELAY OF TYPE 2 DIABETES and TECHNOLOGY, DEVICES, DATA AND PATIENT-GENERATED HEALTH DATA. In addition to the learning tracks the opening general session will include the President’s address. Karen Kemmis will share updates on AADE’s new vision for the specialty of diabetes education. Another favorite is the Annual Business Meeting. This meeting will be held Sunday August 11, 2019 at 12:30 in Exhibit Hall E.  This is your opportunity to hear the association’s review of last year and future plans on advancing our specialty.  There will be many opportunities to learn regarding technology, behavioral health, patient centered care, program financials and more at this year’s conference.

Last but not least do not miss the Coordinating Body (CB) and Communities of Interest (COI) networking reception.  The CB’s and COI’s will be displaying and explaining what makes them special. This is a wonderful networking time.  Hope to see you in Houston and safe travels to all.
