It is with great sadness that Michigan's Coordinating Body of ADCES
has come together to write this post in honor of Betty Krauss. As
many know, Betty passed away on March 9, her formal obituary is linked
on our network page.

Betty was many things: a mother, wife daughter, grandmother, in
addition to those wonderful titles, she was also an advocate,
caregiver, and educator. She was an active member of the Academy of
Nutrition & Dietetics- specifically the Diabetes Care & Education
Practice Group, as well as the Association of Diabetes Care &
Education Specialists (formerly AADE).

Not only did Betty win numerous State and National Awards for her work
in Diabetes Advocacy, but she possessed the true spirit of an
advocate, for both her patients and her profession. She assisted with
whatever she could whether it be speaking at a meeting or conference,
helping to organize a meeting a conference, all while her working
tirelessly on her advocacy efforts and attending forums to help other
educators be advocates as well.

Betty was Michigan's Diabetes Educator of the Year in 2017, and not
only helped get the Bay City Annual Conference together in 2018, but
also spoke at it; and for many years she was also our state's
grassroots coordinator.
