Have You Met DANA?

Who is DANA?

DANA is a "What".

DANA stands for "Diabetes Advanced Network Access".

As Diabetes Educators in 2018 the landscape of Diabetes Care is changing rapidly!  With new insulin, bio-similar insulin, new insulin pump therapies, and continuous glucose monitors, DANA is designed to help keep us informed.

I strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to navigate over, and review the site!  Once logged in (use the same credentials as you use for AADE), you can click on "Products" this will provide resources on different product categories, from Insulin Pumps, CGMS, Insulin Pens, Meters, etc.

Under the "Education" tab, is where you can locate additional resources, as well as courses and opportunities for CEUs.

In addition to the tabs I have already mentioned, you will see an "Innovation", "Resources", "App Review", & "Supporters" tab.

Innovation

This is where you can find out more information, on new technology, be apart of a focus group, and participate in polls.

App Review

Upon clicking on this tab, you will be asked if you want to navigate away from the site- click yes.  You are being redirected to the DANA Apps site, there are some really cool features here. First - make sure you create a username and password, so that if you are so inclined - you can rate the different apps.

1) You can browse for apps based on: medical conditions, fitness, food, wellness, & lifestyle.  2) Upon clicking on an area of interest I.e. "Nutrition" you will see different apps that pertain to nutrition, nutrition tracking, etc appear.  3) You are able to select if you want to see apps that are compatible with a specific platform, such as Apple or Samsung.  This is a great tool to have as an educator, as many times we are tasked with meeting patients where they are, and these are tools that can assist them in progress (for those who are app users).

A blog entry cannot truly do this websites (resource) justice, so again, I encourage you to click on the link above, or from the AADE homepage, click on "DANA" and take some time to explore the site!
