Reflecting on Mental Health Month in the setting of COVID-19
Happy end of May! I've spent my weekend enjoying some time outdoors and soaking up some vitamin D. I think some time in the sun (with SPF 50) was good for my mental health. As May is Mental Health month, I had some self-reflection on my experience in the last few months. After quarantining, job changes, and missing my family who live too far away to see, I know how important self care is more than ever.
If you or someone you know needs additional resources related to mental health, please visit the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) website.
As we move into June, I encourage you to take some time for yourself and do something that brings you joy. I know I'll be going into June with a renewed energy and appreciation for those I love and will carry that across to my patient care and student interactions.
In good health,
