Communities of Interest (COI's) are a virtual/on-line way to facilitate the professional development and collaboration of AADE members with common interest in specialized areas and functions of diabetes self-management education and training. Communities are categorized as being either Q&A COIs or Resource COIs. From the My AADE Network home page or the Missouri/AADE home page, hover over the Communities of Interest tab in the black header>> All COI's >> scroll down; from either the Q&A COI in the left column, or All COI's in the right column.
Your AADE Membership dues allows access to any/all COI's. You do not have to join/subscribe to a COI to view their postings. Subscribing to any COI will enable e-messages to come to you whenever anyone issues a posting. Available COI's are: Advanced Practice, Cultural Diversity, Diabetes Educators in Industry, Diabetes Prevention, Diabetes Technology (formerly Insulin Pump Therapy & Continuing Glucose Monitoring), Disabilities, Home Health Care, Inpatient Management, Office/Clinic-Based, Pediatric/Camp Educators, Pharmacy, Physical Activity, Plant Based Nutrition, Post Career, Pregnancy/Reproductive Health, Public Health, Veterans Affairs/Dept of Defense. You can “manage” your subscription, by designating how often you receive COI emails: 'immediate' = each time they are issued, or can be received once daily, as ‘full digest with attachments’.
Personally, I find the Files section of many of the COI's to be very useful---why re-invent the wheel, when someone may have already generated a useful tool for your specific needs; additionally, it may lead you to a contact person for further reference. For any questions about navigating/subscribing to COI's, or anything else about the My AADE Network, feel free to contact me while you have the site open, at 314-303-2328; nancytcde@hotmail.com; Nancy Trebilcock, BSN, RN, CDE, Missouri Coordinating Body (CB) Web Admin; Missouri CB Board Member since Founding 2011.
