Thank you to Leisa Blanchard, APRN, FNP-C, CDE, (Lamar) Missouri Coordinating Body (CB) Advocacy/Grassroots Leader for the information shared in an announcement, on 1/19/17: "Advocacy....looking for grassroots". Included in her announcement was a link to >> Find your Legislator: http://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup (you need your 9 digit zip-code).  As a follow-up to Leisa's information, additional attachments to enhance your communications with Legislators, is now located in the Missouri Files section of our Home page, titled: "Legislation Info & List of Missouri/Kansas Legislators Using Twitter".

Of particular interest is page 2 of the AADE Federal Advocacy Fact Sheet. Page 2 of that document, lists the Supporting Organizations & Legislators for The Access to Quality Diabetes Education Acts - H.R. 1726/S. 1345; please note that there is NO ONE from Missouri on that list! As a reminder, the "Access to Quality Diabetes Education Acts," 'Amends title XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act to recognize state-licensed or -registered certified diabetes educators or state-licensed or -registered health care professionals who specialize in teaching individuals with diabetes to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to manage the individual's diabetic condition and are certified as a diabetes educator by a recognized certifying body. Directs the Comptroller General (GAO) to study the barriers that exist for Medicare beneficiaries with diabetes in accessing diabetes self-management training services under the Medicare program. Requires the Director of the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to develop a series of recommendations on effective outreach methods to educate primary care physicians and other health care providers as well as the public about the benefits of diabetes self-management training.'

One attachment is a list of the Missouri & Kansas Congressional Leaders who use twitter. Kansas Leaders are also included in that list because some of our Missouri AADE Members work in Kansas & some of the Kansas AADE Members work in Missouri -- dual interests. From the Missouri Home page, scroll down to the Files section, to access/download any Missouri file as needed/desired.
