Happy Friday!
The MO CB Leadership had our first phone meeting today and we reflected on what was presented at the AADE Leadership Training that several of us were able to attend. The event consisted of so many great talks and discussions highlighting strategic planning, managing a CB or LNG, AADEs initiatives and new features that will soon be available to AADE members.
AADE Strategic Plan areas of focus:
- Emerging roles and Profession of Diabetes Education and Management
- Population Health Management and New Models of Care
- Diversity in Membership, Products, & Services
- Access to Diabetes Self-Management Education & Support
- Digital Technology & Connected Health Environment
National Content Priorities include:
- Hypoglycemia
- Technology Integration
- Diabetes & Cardiovascular Disease
- Obesity
- Pediatrics
- Diversity
- Vision for the Profession
Through discussions of the strategic plan and content priorities many ideas were presented, including the idea for development of a Population Health group. The fast-acting staff at AADE have made this a reality already and have developed the "Population Health Practice Area Discussion." If this is of interest to you I encourage you to join to see what others are doing and share what you are doing. Just sharing your thoughts can assist AADE and the profession in working towards our goals.
Also, an introduction to DANA (Diabetes Advanced Network Access) was provided by Crystal Broj, Chief Technology & Innovation Officer and it was AMAZING! She took us through some of the features and direct links provided within DANA, along with reviewing some of the apps that will be directly available through DANA. DANA is a member-only feature and is no additional charge! Keep an eye out for communication from AADE regarding the first phase of DANA becoming available this spring! https://www.diabeteseducator.org/news/volunteer-leader-newsletter/december-2017/details/volunteer-leader-newsletter/2017/12/18/meet-dana-coming-spring-2018.
MO CB Past-Leader, Nancy Trebilcock, provided a great overview of the importance of members, their input and ways to acquire that input. Nancy’s insight was greatly appreciated. Her dedication to the MO CB and AADE is inspiring and we are very exciting to have her to continue to be a resource to the CB and AADE. (Thank you for your service and mentorship!)
As you can see it was a great meeting filled with so much more than I can put in this blog. I feel ready to assist the MO CB as we plan for the year and the future.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for the MO CB leadership team regarding events or initiatives please feel free to reach out to us. Your input is truly appreciated and needed.
Keep an eye out for information regarding the Diabetes Care “Show Me” State Summit 2018 as planning is in full force!
Have a wonderful weekend,
