Fall Schedule

Yes, indeed, Nancy!

Mary Lawrence asked me to pass along a request for volunteers and the American Diabetes Association's "Friends and Family: Diabetes 101" event on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at MERCY HOSPITAL (Von Gontard Conference Center) from 9:00 am until noon.  Even if you can't be there the whole time, please contact her so she can set up breakout sessions on hypoglycemia, Carb counting, pumps, insulin pens and vials, etc.

It's important for these caregivers to know the proper techniques, and yet not be too intimidated to care for their nephew or grandchild.

ALSO, SLADE has two evening sessions:

Monday, Sept 23rd "Diabetes and Hospitalization: From Home to Hospital and Back" given by Melanie Mabrey. Out of town speakers have been less common lately due to costs, so take advantage of this opportunity to learn from her vast experience.

Save the date for Tuesday, November 12th! Lucy Levandoski, PA from Wash U. Division of Endocrinology is planning to present updates on the DCCT/EDIC study based on presentations from June's ADA presentations marking 20 years since the study was first published. She is the study coordinator here in St. Louis, where 80 of the 1441 patients have been participating.
