Time to review your Professional Development Game Plan?

As the end of the year approaches, it might be time to review your "Professional Development Game Plan". Perhaps, you are hoping to evaluate new job opportunities. Did you know that AADE has a Career Network site?

It allows you access to job postings from around the country! You can view this info via: www.diabeteseducator.org >> Education & Career tab >> Career Network. If there are positions available at your facility, your Boss/HR person can access the info via the same entry route: access info via: www.diabeteseducator.org >> Education & Career tab >> Career Network >> "Employers? sign in" tab. Using the AADE Career Network will be more helpful than using the Missouri State Discussions link or the Local Networking Groups (LNG), because not every Missouri/AADE Member is subscribed to each/either of those Forums ..... therefore, reaching intended audiences is limited.

It may also be time to spiff up your CV/resume. Are you able to include an item that is becoming more important to many potential employers: Community and Professional Association involvement? Are you an active AADE member, who is:

using the MyAADE Network site (www.diabeteseducator.org ); did you know the value of your dues is over $1,700.00 in subscriptions, CE opportunities, Advocacy efforts, Products and Events;

networking  on line with Members of the 21 online Communities of Interest (COI’s, formerly known as SPG’s), access to all is included with your dues, subscribing is required;

an active participant in your Local Networking Group (LNG, formerly known as Chapters, of AADE); currently there are 2 LNG’s in the State: Kansas City & St.Louis. Is there enough professional activity and interest to form a new LNG in your area of the State?

an active Member of your state of Missouri Coordinating Body (CB)?  CB Board members needed include: Co-Chair,Technology Leader (Web Administrator/Publicity), Education Leader (initiate/coordinate state wide CE offerings), Finance Leader (Treasurer), & Member-at-Large. Perhaps, you are not able to hold a Board position, but you can help with committees or smaller tasks/projects.

If you can help the CB or want to investigate opportunities to assist in re-vitalizing the LNG's, contact myself: Nancy Trebilcock, Missouri CB Web Admin, @ nancytcde@hotmail.com, subject line: "Volunteer help" & I will forward your info accordingly. Please, let’s work together to help Missouri be a good example of how we can promote our Members and therefore, promote quality diabetes Education.
