In the past few weeks, there has been a flurry of activity via the My AADE Network Discussions Groups; most notably in the St Louis Local Networking Group (LNG = chapter), especially since the AADE15 Meeting in New Orleans. It is great to see increased use of this venue. The goal of the State, & the 3 LNG Discussions Groups, is to encourage dialogue between Members; share info, etc. If you didn't get the email regarding a Bayer Contour Meter inquiry, then you are not subscribed to the St Louis LNG Discussions Group. Subscribing to a Discussions Group is a voluntary process, that allows you to receive/send information within that Membership Group.Thank you to those of you who have contributed to any Discussions activity! You are receiving this notice as a State Announcement, not a Discussion thread. Please note: because something is posted by me, Nancy Trebilcock, it doesn't automatically mean it is St Louis LNG Discussions related; I have not been a St Louis Officer for a few years....so you may not be a Discussions subscriber & not know it! Send me a note& I can confirm for you which of the 4 Discussions Groups, if any, you "belong" to; email subject line: AADE Subscribers info.
Unfortunately, your email accounts may have inadvertently been compromised/hacked in the past few days. I have heard from several AADE Members of the national Leaders Discussions Group, as well as the S Louis LNG Discussions Group, that the most problematic emails have only the single word: "Important" in the subject line. The email "looks legit" because it comes from an AADE/local Member. Once opened, you are enticed to click on a link---that's the problematic entry point for a virus! If something sounds "too general/too generic" or does not relate to professional/educational/AADE Organization items, please be cautious. If you get an email that has a blank subject line or only has "Fwd:' or "Re:" in the subject line, delete without opening it. Conversely, don't send an email without a filled subject line.If you are unsure of the validity of the email, send a seperate inquiry to the sender. I encourage each of you to change your email passwords, even if you did not get that type of email &/or deleted it without clicking on the virus link.
AADE has issued a Guide to assist you in managing your LNG/COI email inbox: frequency of receipt of emails, can "batch" them to receive only once daily, etc. . AADE also has a Guide regarding proper "Net"-iquette to assist you in using the MY AADE Network. These Guides can be found in the "download resources" tab, in the grey colored box, on the right hand side of the Missouri home page. If there is something that you want to post, but are unsure of its appropriateness, I am happy to review it before issuing it. Also, be careful when you reply to a discussions thread; if you want to reply to the sender, please enter/use their email address.Clicking "reply" usually sends a response to the entire Membership of that Group. If you are posting a thread, please include your email address for a personal reply.
If you are new to AADE &/or rejoined after an abscence & don't know what in the world I am talking about, give me a call & I can assist you with navigating the site!
IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE BEEN HACKED& /or THINK AN UNKNOWN PERSON HAS ISSUED A FRAUDULENT EMAIL USING YOUR NAME &/or WITHOUT CONSENT, PLEASE NOTIFY ME IMMEDIATELY, NANCY TREBILCOCK , MISSOURI WEB ADMIN, at 314-303-2328--text is OK too!
Thank you for your time & attention to this matter,
