In the next few weeks, I will be clarifying the meaning of these acronyms that are used in the My AADE Network. This will be a review for some of you, but will also be helpful to Missouri Members who have recently joined the AADE. First, a little bit of history about the “MyAADE Network” that will help explain these terms. “MyAADE Network” (known further in this article as the Network) is a Member focused, web-based resource that was initiated in January 2011. The initial goal of the Network is to help AADE Members network locally, State-wide, and across the country. This online portal offers both administrative tools and member community tools. Members can communicate with other AADE Members about various issues, share ideas, photos and stories, ask questions, and create instant “meet-ups”, by using the “Discussions” links and the Member-only social Networking site. Meet-ups can allow Members to get together in person to further continue a conversation. For one dues fee, Members have web access that includes the State Coordinating Body (CB), Local Networking Groups (LNG), and Communities of Interest (COI) information, and Educator resources.
A Coordinating Body (CB), a state “Chapter”, is a Team of peers from around the state who together identify the priorities for meeting Members needs (why and what), set the course for activities within the state (how), allocate funds, and serve as the primary contact to and from the national organization, AADE. For 2016, your Missouri CB Leadership Team Members are: Mary Lawrence, MSN, RN, CDE, Chair (St Louis); Clair Welsh, RN, CDE, Finance Leader (Kansas City); Leisa Blanchard, APRN,FNP-C,CDE, Advocacy Leader, (Lamar); and Nancy Trebilcock, BSN, RN, CDE, Past CB Chair, current Web Admin (Wentzville). If you receive an email with the source: MOCB.annc@lists.myaade.org, it is an announcement from a Missouri CB Leader to all Missouri Members. You are not able to reply to an announcement; it is a one-way communication venue. If you receive an email marked: MOCB@lists.myaade.org, it is a discussion thread to any Missouri Members who have voluntarily subscribed to these state-wide discussions. This Forum is used to engage active participation in discussions between subscribed Members around the State. To better serve you, The CB needs Representatives from all over Missouri. We “meet” via phone conference calls several times per year & at least once yearly in person; we occasionally travel to various areas of the State to meet Members/invites. Mary Lawrence & Nancy Trebilcock have served Missouri Members since the inception of the Network, being Board Members since January 2011. It is now time for other Missouri/AADE Members to step up! Perhaps, you can share your time & talents thru a Leadership role as an Officer for one to two years, or as a Committee Member, or assist with Special Projects.
