Have you heard about the HUGE victory in the fight to Stop Diabetes®?
Today the United States Supreme Court ruled Americans in all states will still be able to get the tax credits they need to pay for health insurance.
The decision in King v. Burwell ensures millions of Americans will continue to get assistance in paying for health insurance premiums. The American Diabetes Association stood up for people with diabetes by writing a friend-of-the-court brief with other leading voluntary health associations. We told the Court how important this financial support is for people with diabetes and other chronic diseases.
We know having access to health insurance is vital to the health of those facing diabetes. Our advocacy efforts help pass laws that protect people with diabetes and today’s decision will ensure that access to care will not be taken away from 6.4 million Americans due to the cost of insurance coverage.
But our work is not yet done. Right now, Congress is considering laws that have the potential to increase lifesaving diabetes research funding and prevention programs. Now is the time for Congress to continue our efforts to Stop Diabetes.
Will you help us celebrate our victory today by telling your Members of Congress to make diabetes a priority? Just a minute of your time will help!
Thank you for your advocacy efforts and we look forward to many more victories to come!
Sincerely,
Gina Gavlak
National Advocacy Committee Chair
