NC Chair's Corner, January 2014

January 31, 2014

As I sit in my office in Eastern North Carolina, with 6 inches of snow on the ground, on this last day of January, I find myself reflecting on warmer times.  Times when I didn’t slide this way and that on my way into work.  And really, times when I was hanging out with a bunch of you in Philadelphia(AADE13)!!  And as I reflect, I wonder how many people I’m going to get to see again in Orlando in just 6 short months?

Will I get to see last year's winner of the Rising Star Award, Ms. Kathy Jackson?  Or my really tall friends from ECU?  Or some new friends from across the state?

Or our state’s legislative rep, Beth Silvers?IMG_1509.jpg

Or will we get to take a trip with Lenny again with the 2013 Diabetes Educator of the Year?

And how many of us will walk in the 5K, like these 2 generations of educators (and soon to be educators)?

If you come only for the education, or to also reconnect with your fellow educators across the country, I hope that we get to see each other in Orlando.

You are all such wonderful educators and bring so much to this organization and to help people with diabetes.  Your NC Coordinating Body can’t wait to meet more of your and work with more of you.  Let us know if anyone has big celebrations we can help you celebrate.  And as the conference draws closer, hopefully we will be able to talk about carving out some time in Orlando to meet with everyone.

Be safe in this crazy winter weather and stay warm!

Warmest Regards,

Chris Memering, RN, BSN, CDE, SANE-A

PS, There are suppose to be more pictures in here.  Having trouble adding them due to size limits and will work on a way to get them to a share site.  And thank you to Novo and Medtronic for some pretty awesome pictures.
