As the new “Education Leader” for the Northeast Ok local networking group, I would like to introduce myself as I hope to become more involved. My education includes a bachelors and masters in nursing with experience in OB, surgery, and now diabetes education. I have been a diabetes educator at St. John Medical Center Tulsa since 2016 and have been a NODE member during that time. I have a passion for caring for patients with diabetes that I hope continues to grow. I am looking forward to learning from the knowledge and experience found within these networks.
My goal is to organize educational opportunities relevant to our needs and challenges as diabetes educators. Those in attendance of our last NODE meeting participated in an AADE webinar titled “Guidelines for Non-insulin Medication Management of Type 2 Diabetes.” This brought us up to speed on many of the orals and injectable medications as well as providing 1.5 contact hours of continuing education credit.
