Efforts for DPP to be a Covered Benefit in Oklahoma

By Sarah Yount posted 02-15-2018 11:34

Members of Oklahoma’s Diabetes Caucus met with the state’s health plan Chief Compliance Officer on February 13, 2018, in a continued effort for the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) to be adopted as a covered benefit.   This was a follow-up meeting from when the program was formally presented to the Employees Group Insurance Division (EGID) in May of 2017.  Caucus members have been promoting coverage of NDPP to EGID since 2016.  More information is being gathered from both parties in an attempt for the Diabetes Caucus to take the next step in formally applying for diabetes prevention services to be covered starting in 2019.  Members of the Caucus continue to work diligently to enhance the provision of diabetes care in Oklahoma through broadening provision of diabetes management and prevention services and advocating for coverage and affordability of these services.
