  • Recognizing an educator who has made a special contribution to diabetes education through dedication and innovation in the daily practice of patient care.
  • The Diabetes Educator of the Year should be someone who is considered a role model by his or her peers and colleagues

  • This person boarded our bus 9 years ago & joined the ODE board as a co-chair for professional development
  • She served on the board for 4 years and was instrumental in the planning for our annual meetings
  • She has served the diabetes community for over 16 years and has given hundreds of volunteer hours in pursuit of excellence for people with diabetes.
  • She is a kind and engaged educator
  • Professional, reliable and innovative
  • She educates patients at their level
  • She has an innate ability to sense what the patient needs
  • She helps her patients as if they were her family
  • She encourages her patients to be responsible for their own change
  • She’s always there when I need advice or someone to bounce an idea or two off of
  • She is a practical and down to earth educator
  • She’s a great organizer!!!
  • She’s a great leader!!!
  • She has kept the educators and RDs in our hospital system up to date with evidenced based care guidelines for our pregnant patients with diabetes.
  • She has worked for many years with the Sweet Success Program and has been an editor and writer for articles and the program’s curricula
  • Presenter at the Navajo Area Sweet Success Training Program
  • Presenter at the Oregon State WIC meeting
