Barriers to Exercise in Diabetes: Physiology Thwarting Execution.

Our key note speaker this year is Dr. Jane Reusch. If you were at 2018 ADA Practice Update, you heard Dr. Reusch speak and, if you were like many of us, you are ready to hear her again! We are fortunate to have Dr. Reusch speak on two topics at our 2019 Annual Meeting:  Addressing the Diabetes Crisis through Awarenessand Teamwork and Barriers to Exercise in Diabetes: Physiology Thwarting Execution.

During her presentation, she will dive into how to increase awareness on the diabetes epidemic and the importance of effective prevention. Dr. Reusch will review the financial impact on our healthcare system, the health burden on individual with diabetes, the impact on cardiovascular disease, the need for effective support for behavior change, and so much more.

We all know how hard it can be for people with diabetes to engage in daily physical activity. So, Dr. Reusch will discuss the physiological barriers to exercise, provide us with information on its effect on longevity, and look at the impact of diabetes on exercise capacity.

2019 Conference Speaker Highlight: Jane Reusch, MD

You are so very fortunate in Oregon-I may need to visit your state meeting. I had the pleasure in speaking with Dr. Reusch this weekend at the Heart in Diabetes Conference in Philadelphia (SEARCH, TODAY, RISE). In her presentation she shared the study team detected early signs of CVD with MRI imaging in adolescents with T1D compared to control participants. Obesity, IR play a role in CVD. Ask her - she will share the effects of Metformin in this study population.

Looks like a great line up- enjoy!
