New AADE Oregon Leadership

Hello AADE Oregon and Idaho members, and friends,

Did you know that our AADE state organizations are all volunteer run? With the new year, we are saying goodbye and extending heartfelt thanks to our outgoing board members, recognizing those continuing board members, and giving warm welcomes to our new board members.

It takes a significant amount of work to run an organization like AADE OR. Much of the work is behind the scenes, invisible to most members. The all-volunteer work can be challenging and frustrating at times, but the joy of new friendships and the success of our annual conferences are deeply satisfying and gratifying experiences.

Jamie Brown and Fernando Carrillo served tirelessly as our co-leaders the past several years. Both completed their terms in 2017, and it took three new co-leads to replace the two of them. Our three new co-leaders for 2018-2019 are Kelly Chambers, Tara Moomey, and Kathy Schwab. Kelly and Tara are both based in Hood River, and Kathy is in Portland.

Kathy Fuglee served as webmaster since 2014 and is now enjoying retirement. Fernando Carrillo is taking a lead role in our web/tech/social media strategy.

Breanna Richardson, from Grants Pass, is our new membership/volunteer coordinator.
Terry Cornell remains finance lead.
Teresa Martin remains our Local Networking Group (LNG) lead, and Advocacy co-chair.
Julia Hanfling is serving her second year as chair of the Speaker Selection Committee.

In addition to the board, we currently have 17 additional volunteers contributing in various roles from local LNG leaders, an exhibitor recruiter, board member co-coordinators/co-chairs, speaker selection committee members, awards committee members, and more!

YOU can also be part of AADE Oregon! Are you interested in grant writing, writing blogs, editing blogs, coordinating/organizing, or helping at the annual conference? If so, we have opportunities for you to share your expertise with varying levels of time commitment to suit your availability. Whether it’s as little as one time for a few hours, or a committee assignment, or a formal leadership role with AADE OR, we can find a match for you! Please email Breanna.Whittaker@gmail.com with your area of interest, if known, or she would be happy to discuss opportunities with you.

We are hard at work preparing for our annual conference, September 21-22, 2018, at the Salem Convention Center in Salem, Oregon. Save the date and look for more information soon about conference topics, speakers and activities.

Feel free to reach out to us anytime and let us know what’s on your mind.
