WELCOME TO THE PENNSYLVANIA ASSOCIATION OF DIABETES EDUUCATORS HOME PAGE!

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is the home of 712 Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE), according to the National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE).   With more than 760, 000 Pennsylvanians living with diabetes (~9% of the population), that means there is 1 CDE to care for every 1000+ patients!  We are needed!

Pennsylvania is also the birthplace of our nations Constitution.  The Constitution was created to strengthen the government and prepare the United States for future challenges.

That is exactly why MY AADE NETWORK was developed.  MY AADE NETWORK is a new model of member affiliation created to make us, CDE’s from Pennsylvania, CDE’s from across the country, and CDE’s from around the world, stronger.

Under this new model, AADE National will relieve Chapters of two critical and time consuming tasks—membership and financial management.  This will give us the freedom to focus our time on what is most important—networking and program development.  MY AADE NETORK also comes with a new online portal.  The portal will connect membership by offering e-communications and member discussion boards.  It will also improve efficiency with an up to date membership database and on-line event registration.  All in all, AADE is liberating our organization with a new state-of–the-art organizational structure to make us stronger.

Change is not always easy, even when it is the right thing to do.  As noted by Thomas Jefferson, one of the founding forefathers who signed the Constitution, “The boisterous sea of liberty is never without a wave.”  So, let’s “ride the wave.”  The change will empower our organization.  Or, as we say in Pennsylvania, we are:

“Changing……for a stronger tomorrow.”

Need for support of Pennsylvania Funding for Diabetes

Dear Pennsylvania Diabetes Educators:

In the event you are not on the ADA diabetes advocacy list, PLEASE read the message below:

I just took action on an issue that I consider very important.  I urge you to take action yourself and spread the word!

Funding for diabetes prevention programs in Pennsylvania are at risk for total elimination.  We need all diabetes advocates in the state of Pennsylvania to take action. Make sure your state legislators hear from you today!

Diabetes Advocates in Pennsylvania to weigh in with their legislators in support of maintaining state funding for diabetes prevention and control. Unfortunately, the Governor’s proposed budget had eliminated the entire appropriation of $190,000. Because of diabetes advocates,  the House of Representatives is now expected to restore some of the diabetes funding. As the Senate develops its budget priorities, please remind your state senator about the importance of the diabetes funding.

Ask your Senator to preserve Pennsylvania’s funding for diabetes prevention and control!

Over 1 million Pennsylvanians have diabetes. Given the risk for early death and disabling complications, not to mention over $6 billion in medical and lost productivity costs in our state alone, it is critical that Pennsylvania continues the fight to stop diabetes.

Because the Governor has proposed to eliminate the diabetes funding in the state budget, it is imperative that advocates make their voices heard. Please help us preserve the funding by contacting your legislators. They need to know that the current diabetes funding is not adequate and to eliminate it would be an enormous step backwards.

Tell your Senator how critical it is to preserve funding for diabetes prevention and control in Pennsylvania!
