This past week at Pennsylvania’s inaugural state meeting, I caught myself saying “I’ll do anything but write.” I’ll be honest, writing
scares me. Not narrative progress notes, over the years, there has been plenty of opportunity to get practice, but creative writing puts me in a sweat. Who would read this? But yet as a member of the Coordinating Body, I have been asking everyone but me to give us a blog for the “Latest News” area on the My AADE Network. I did have a few guilty feelings about asking someone to do something that I had no plans on doing. Recently I was also asked to contribute to the AADE Volunteer Newsletter, and my first thoughts were “Oh No!”
Friday afternoon in Gettysburg, Dr. Anthony Fabricatore spoke on Lifestyle Modification in the Management of Obesity and Diabetes: Key Concepts and Practical Solutions. During the presentation he reminded attendees of the Transtheoretical Behavior Change Model and it struck me! That’s me with writing and how am I going to change. Maybe practicing some of what is asked of people with diabetes would help. So obviously I’m moving along, have been through precontemplation, and contemplation. Preparation took me to the internet and problogger.net. I learned the average time someone spends reading a blog is 96 seconds. So the content needs to be clear and concise. The website advises to be comprehensive on your topic, and then stop.
So in Action; I have written my first blog. Certainly no Pulitzers in my future, but hopefully a conversation can be started. Comments, ratings can be done at the bottom of this entry. The CB wants to know what you want to read about. Are there members out here already blogging and are interested in contributing to this area? As advised I’m stopping. Come in and join the party.
