I became re-involved with AADE in 2013. I have been a CDE since 1991 and previously was involved with AADE early on. I became re-involved for a few reasons:
- to network with colleagues
-to support an organization that does so much for its members and ultimately, people with diabetes
-to take advantage of all the educational opportunities AADE provides
-to use what I gain here to help support my hospital systems diabetes education program
While I received all of those benefits I also received some I wasn’t planning on.
While attending my local LING meetings I met an incredible group of educators. Their compassion and enthusiasm was contagious. There were opportunities to become more involved and so I did. (Thank you Lisa!!!!!). So suddenly I find myself to be on the PA CB as the tech lead. If you knew me well enough you would find that quite funny. I have been involved with other professional organizations and this is a top notch one. The support I receive locally, statewide and national is amazing. I have attended many trainings and conferences and been brought into contact with so many wonderful people. It was at the state conferences in particular that I felt the need to become more involved. Being a part of AADE has made me a better CDE.
The actual point to all this that I will be attending the PA 5th annual Diabetes Conference (my third conference). Over 220 of our colleagues (so far) have registered. We would love to have even more of you. The program is timely and varied and the speakers are excellent. All that plus 11 CEUs if you attend the pre-conference as well.
Hurry as there are only 3 weeks left!
I look forward to meeting so many of you at the conference and as the CB tech lead, if there is anything I can do for you or your LING please reach out me.
Thank you
