Introducing the State Leadership
Arlene Feleccia, RD, LDN, CDE
The PA Coordinating Body (CB) serves the membership of AADE who reside within the Keystone state. The PA Transition Team formed in 2010 is comprised of 17 Chapter Leaders. The team has met throughout 2010 and 2011 by teleconference or in person with a goal to build and develop Pennsylvania’s MY AADE Network. The PA Transition Team became the founding PA CB during calendar year 2011. There are currently 5 Local Networking Groups (LNGs) in PA: Lehigh Valley LNG, North East LNG, Central Pennsylvania LNG, South Eastern Pennsylvania LNG and Western Pennsylvania LNG.
Kellie Antinori-Lent MSN RN CDE leads the founding PA Coordinating Body. As Chair, Kellie has been responsible for coordinating and presiding over all state meetings. She is also responsible for insuring that the CB pools LNG talent and resources from across the state to plan exciting educational programs and events for membership. Her goal is to have the first statewide conference in the spring of 2012. This goal will be achieved on the dates of April 26 & 27, 2012 when the 1st State Meeting, “The Battle of Diabetes – Historical and Innovative Approach to Diabetes Management” will be held in Gettysburg, PA. Kellie works as a Diabetes Advanced Practice Nurse at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center Shadyside. Kellie is married to Kirk Douglas Lent and together they have 3 daughters. Her favorite quote, “… keep moving forward …” by Walt Disney.
Pat Adams RN CDE is the Technology Chair/Web Administrator for the PA CB. Pat is the “go to” person for the State network page online. She keeps the front page updated and fresh, posts items to calendar, oversees group announcements, coordinates communications for statewide events and assists LNG Web Administrators to develop their sections. When Pat was asked what separates her from all the rest she responded, “each one of us are multifaceted – I always make this point to my students – they are many things, not just a disease”. Pat is married, has a stepson and granddaughter. Pat and her husband adopt and rescue greyhounds from the racing industry and advocate putting an end to greyhound racing.
Jean Kovaleski, RN MS CDE, retired, is the Finance Chair on the PA CB. The Finance Chair is responsible for developing policy and funds distribution based on the consensus of the PA CB AADE members. Jean has lived in nine states and has gained a good sense of health care provider issues in the US in both profit and non-profit organizations. Jean has received multiple awards during her career – “Diabetes Educator of the Year by the PA American Diabetes Association, “Scranton Times Northeast Woman”, “Press Ganey and Center of Excellence” winner – Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals. Jean enjoys family – especially grandchildren, reading, boating, traveling, writing and fellow CDEs.
