AADE 19 Thoughts

It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of September! August flew by with the excitement of Texas hosting AADE 19 and I hope anyone able to attend  left motivated and proud to be a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist! I asked a couple of members to share their thoughts regarding their AADE experience and I encourage anyone who feels compelled to share their own in the comments below.

“I am so energized after attending AADE19!  My favorite event was the CB/COI Networking Event on Thursday evening where Betsy and Brett, two of our Texas leaders, put together a Texas photo booth that was very popular and gave me to opportunity to learn how to use Snapchat - who says and old dog can't learn new tricks? I also enjoyed the Texas Networking Event on Friday where the Texas Diabetes Educator of the Year, Joy Cornwaite (her family is adorable!) and Texas educators who have been members of AADE for 30 or more years were recognized. I loved meeting and talking to educators from across Texas! What a great privilege it is to be a part of this organization during this time as we move forward as Diabetes Care & Education Specialists!”

[In response towards the name change] “I think that the name change is great!  It is a little ‘long’ but necessary to capture a better picture of what we really do.  Physicians are slowing catching on and today one of the hospitalists actually said to me that he believes we needed the name change because he views us as specialists and feels that is an important part of our name change. I thought that was great feedback from a physician.”
