Do you have your Diabetes Disaster Checklist ready to hand out to your patients?  Hurricane season started June 1 and currently “Barry” is trying to form in the Gulf! The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of thunderstorms in Georgia that is expected to move south into the most northeast portion of the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday morning.

The classified disturbance is currently called "Invest 92L" and if it becomes a named storm it will be called Barry. It’s time that we be aware and should start to prepare! Please share! Check out other resources on Diabetes Disaster Response Coalition site at https://www.diabetesdisasterresponse.org/resources

Also, don’t forget you can show the video of how to pack a Diabetes Disaster Ki. If you have patients who don’t have diabetes or have other conditions besides diabetes, this kit can translate to other chronic diseases. https://vimeo.com/95330516

Don’t forget your own preparation. Here is a great site to let you get ready one “thing” at a time! You can speed up the readiness since we are already in the Hurricane season and instead of one thing a month you can do one thing every few days!

“Being prepared for disasters and emergencies can seem like a big job. Many people don't know where to start, so they never start at all. With Do 1 Thing you can take small steps that make a big difference in an emergency. Do 1 Thing is a 12-month program that makes it easy for you to prepare yourself, your family, and your community for emergencies or disasters.”   https://do1thing.com/
