"After a bit of a drought, some new drugs are coming to the market for diabetes."

Approved for Type 2 Diabetes:
Nesina (alogliptin), a DPP-IV inhibitor
Oseni (alogliptin plus pioglitazone), DPP-IV plus TZD
Kazno (alogliptin plus metformin), DPP-IV plus biguanide

Recommended for Approval:
Canagliflozin, the first of a new class of Sodium Glucose Co-Transporter 2 inhibitors

Delayed FDA approval until at least 2015:
Tresiba (Degludec), long acting basal insulin

new drug summary

and the list keeps growing...now we need to update this blog. More and more options are available and we all need to receive all the details on the many products arriving at our door. We are grateful for our PharmDs in the AADE Network to assist us with the best way to keep all the new classes and products available in quick reference format.
