Med-Surg and perioperative nurse for 18 years before finding my passion for diabetes education in 2006. My first opportunity for diabetes education was at Lanier Health Services (now EAMC-Lanier). In 2012, served as Diabetes Team leader for St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA, and led the team through the acquisition of the Joint Commission Advanced Diabetes Certification. Served as chair of the inpatient glycemic team for the initial survey and two subsequent re-certification surveys. Experience as a contracted insulin pump trainer with multiple pump companies. Previous NP work in endocrinology and family practice, which I currently work to maintain, in clinical practice. Currently serving as an assistant clinical professor/FNP coordinator for MSN FNP students, with an academic focus on pharmacology, endocrine, adult-gero care, healthcare policy & ethics, and quality improvement. Educational research interests are metabolic syndrome, depression, and diabetes. CDCES since 2008, BC-ADM since 2023. Private Family/Endocrinology practice PRN.
