I was diagnosed with diabetes at age seven in the fall of 1980. At that time, we still used a one-shot regimen. My son was diagnosed with diabetes at age eight in 2023 and went home with a sensor. My, how times have changed.
I've worked in a wide range of fields in the diabetes world, industry, academia, clinical settings, and nonprofit, and I'm still looking for my place.
I have been an athlete as long as I've had diabetes, and it has been far my one true passion. I currently run ultramarathons and love the process of breaking new ground in diabetes and exercise.
