Bio

Dr. Mary Davis has over thirty years of working in the nursing field. She has been a nurse since 1981. She has worked as a nurse practitioner in primary care, home health, long-term care/nursing homes, state health department, and rural health.  Dr. Davis truly enjoys working with students, faculty, and patients diagnosed with diabetes and pre-diabetes. She has worked with students at University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) since early 2011 and currently work as an adult nurse practitioner/chronic disease educator and as an assistant professor in the graduate nurse practitioner program at UTA College of Nursing and Innovation. Dr. Davis has had the opportunity to work with students in several nursing programs including University of Alabama at Birmingham; Capstone College of Nursing at Tuscaloosa, AL; Mississippi University of Women's Nurse Practitioner programs; University of North Alabama RN-BSN program; and the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa FNP program. Her Doctor of Nursing degree was completed at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in the online environment, so she has an excellent understanding of online learning. Dr. Davis is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner as well as an Advanced Diabetes Management Nurse Practitioner. She completed a weekend college Certificate Program at the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, AL in Geriatric Nursing. She enjoys providing care to the elderly population and persons diagnosed with diabetes and pre-diabetes as well as educating the community on chronic diseases, prevention, and health promotion activities. Dr. Davis often gives health related lectures/presentations to churches, health fairs, and local and state organizations. She enjoys providing education and training to patients diagnosed with diabetes and other chronic diseases. Dr. Davis is a member of West Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association where she held several offices such as treasurer, CE planner, vice president, and president. Dr. Davis also was a member of the ADCES National Advocacy Committee, 2021-2022.
